Industry-Leading Water Repellency
Traditional down struggles in wet conditions. But this isn’t traditional down. Filled with DownTek™ PFC-Free Water Repellent Down that utilises bluesign® approved chemistry to achieve unprecedented levels of water repellency that stays dry 10x longer than untreated down. This means that your Sleeping Bag’s insulation retains full loft without wetting out, even when exposed to moisture. As an extra layer of protection, the durable ripstop nylon shell fabric is treated with a PFC-free water-resistant coating. Together, this results in an Ultralight Sleeping Bag that delivers reliable warmth in the most challenging environments.
Thoughtful Design, Long-Lasting Performance
The Ultralight Sleeping Bag has been carefully designed to maximise warmth without adding weight or bulk. The differentially-cut box-wall baffles help to prevent cold spots, while the mummy shape efficiently retains heat, but the square footbox provides some extra space to spread out. The adjustable hood and 3D draught collars at the neck and along the zipper line block heat loss through critical areas. Each bag is overstuffed by 15-20%, offsetting the effects of down loss over time so your Ultralight Sleeping Bag can be relied upon to deliver warmth and comfort, season after season.
Proven Warmth Ratings For Wilderness Conditions
Alton’s Ultralight Sleeping Bag has been used on demanding expeditions across Australia, New-Zealand, and abroad. It’s available in three ISO 23537-1:2022 certified temperature ratings, 0ºC, -5ºC, and -10ºC, that have been independently tested to guarantee accuracy. In keeping with industry standards, the ratings specified here are the lower limit, but we recommend choosing an Ultralight Sleeping Bag with a lower limit that is several degrees warmer than the lowest temperatures you expect to encounter. For more information on choosing the right warmth rating for your needs, please refer to our detailed guide to understanding the ISO standard here.

Overall rating: 4.8 / 5 from 46 reviews.
I was in -0 last night, to keep this a quick review, it had taken about 1m for my body to heat up to complete fine comfort.
There’s an inner tightening system so you can have it tightened around your neck/back.
So breathing in the nice cold air and semi warmth, Help a lot.
its been my bed for the last week or so. light as a feather but when you're in it, i immediately feel cut off from the outside looking forward to trying it outside.
Love this sleeping bag! So many great design features. Really enjoy the foot space and draw strings that hold the heat in. Allowed me go solo in the bush on cold cold nights and have a great time! Thanks Alton :)
Tested the new -10° sleeping bag out in my backyard the night it arrived! Love it! Can't wait to get it out in the bush this weekend! So comfortable and compact!
I have never shied away from sleeping in the cold until one particular night in the Victorian High country when i spent 2-nights freezing in what I assumed was a good quality sleeping system. I vowed never to be cold again and went and bought the Alton -10 sleeping bag. I tossed up between the quilt and the bag and in the end opted for the zip up bag. Needless to say, I have never looked back and now I don't even look at the weather forecast as long as I have my Alton sleeping bag to take with me. Now I have purchased the same for my wife and we both love the quality and knowledge that we will be toasty worm in any conditions.
This sleeping bag will be with me for life! I’ve just taken it hiking with me in Tasmania’s wilderness and I am so happy with how light it is, warm and easy to store back in the sack when you need to pack up quickly!
All my friends were very envious and will be looking to purchase one too!
Genuinely beyond impressed by the quality of Alton's gear. I purchased both the -10 sleeping bag and R6 sleeping mat. Super lightweight, well-thought-out touches that allow you to pack it up super small, and the insulation is insane. As someone who is normally perpetually cold, I was pretty much overheating; it was that snug. Couldn't recommend it more!
Have been using the -10 sleeping bag for about a year now. Comfortable, and has absolutely kept me warm on nights where temperatures have dropped to around -5. It can retain body odour a bit, so be sure to air it out and take good care of it. Highly recommend.
Camped in the snowy ranges and it dropped to -2. Had no issues being warm. I’m tall and didn’t have trouble moving around in the regular. Love the extra room in the foot pocket too. Lightweight and packs down small, would recommend to others.
Sleeping bag went well last week camping at Moscow Villa hut nunniong state Forest then the next night camping at Talbot ville in the ultra light 2 man tent.
Warm sleeping bag, easy to get in and zip up, temps were 1⁰c at the hut and 2⁰c camping, for a mummy bag there is a lot of foot space, Great sleeping bag.
I couldn’t be more happier with this sleeping bag. It’s not only light but very warm. The head cover area has been designed perfectly ensuring your head stays warm, critical on those cold nights.
-10 sleeping bag. Took on a multi day hike in South Australia, had cold nights and a lot of rain. The foot end of the bag got a bit wet and yet I stayed toasty warm all night. Extremely comfy and well designed. Packs up easy. Very impressed.
I was really excited about the purchase of this bag for backpack hikes. The quality of manufacturing seems to be good. The overall shape and design is good. But calling this bag -10• capable is a far stretch from reality.
I’ve just returned from a multi-day hike into a remote part of the Vic high country and had 2 sleepless nights freezing my butt off in this bag..
the volume of down just seems to be lacking..
unfortunately dissatisfied with the purchase. The 6R sleeping pad is great. But I think Alton needs to offer a more capable sleeping bag for sub zero conditions. I feel like 0• is more the extreme end of this bag’s capability.
Taken the -10 out for several multiple day hikes and temperatures over -1 and it handled the nights effortlessly. Very comfortable, soft feel and very roomy.

I bought this for the Larapinta Trail due to the zero c rating and it being an Aussie company. The down has a really strong smell of bird feather. I tried airing everyday but it still smelt to the point I wore my puffer jacket with the sleeping bag away from face. I'll never use it again. I contacted Alton and they suggested I was it. They also said that it's not unusual for a slight smell. I won't be washing it. I expected a bit better customer service.
Zero regrets. This is the best thing I’ve bought. It’s like a cloud. It feels amazing and I am so happy with it. Super comfy, super warm, easy to fit back into its pouch afterwards
Love the feel and color of the sleeping bag. Very light and compacts much smaller than expected. Great value for money. Am interested to see how the quilt will compare.
My son used this product for his recent school camp. It was fresh at night but he was super cozy. He said it was like sleeping in a comfy puffer jacket. The sleeping bag is really light to carry and the compression bag kept it small in size so it didn't take up a huge amount of space in his hiking pack. I am sure it will get plenty of use in the next few years.
