Multi-Purpose Utility
Designed for simplicity, packability, and versatility, this Poncho Tarp is useful in more situations than you might expect. Worn as a Poncho, it shields you and your pack from rain, and can replace the need for a jacket and rain paints in certain scenarios. As a Tarp, it provides a sheltered spot to sleep, cook meals on the trail, or wait out a passing shower without getting soaked.
Ideal for Mild, Wet Conditions
In mild conditions, a full rainwear kit of jacket, rainpants, and pack cover can feel like overkill, not to mention hot, constrictive, and time consuming to put on and take off. This Poncho Tarp saves you the hassle and keeps you moving when the weather can’t make up its mind. Simply throw on the Poncho, snap up the sides, and you’re set – no more fiddling around with full rain gear and a fiddly pack cover.
Ultralight & Compact
Weighing just 245g, the Ultralight Poncho Tarp packs down small and takes up minimal space in your pack. This means it’s useful for everything from day trips and thru-hikes to urban commuting, travel, and spectator events. Featuring an extended cut that provides extra coverage for you and your pack in rainy conditions, while the length can be adjusted using the simple carabiner clip at the back.

Produced from a slightly thinner version of the high-quality ripstop nylon used to make our best-selling Tarps, the Poncho Tarp is subjected to our strict quality control measures and comes backed by our All Good Guarantee, a Lifetime Warranty* against manufacturing defects. Take care of it, and it will take you further.
FAQ's
-
To use the Poncho Tarp as a shelter, you will need to bring along guylines and tent pegs (both sold separately). Hiking poles can be useful, too, as they allow you to set up in locations where natural anchor points, like trees, are not accessible.
The dimensions of the Poncho Tarp (1.44m wide and 2.58m long) make it best suited to simple configurations, including a flat roof, A-frame, lean-to and stealth shelter. Whichever configuration you choose, remember to cinch the hood up tightly to prevent water from getting into your shelter.
Please note, the Poncho Tarp’s coverage and configuration options are somewhat limited compared to our other camping tarps, so we don’t recommend using it as your only form of shelter if you’re camping in heavy rain or cold, windy conditions.

This really depends on the level of warmth and protection you personally require.
If you’re looking for a light, effective layer to throw on during showers in relatively mild conditions, then the Poncho Tarp can definitely replace the need for a jacket and other rain gear. Plus the snap closure system allows greater airflow, which is an advantage in warm weather.
However, in cold, stormy, and windy conditions, extra protection may be necessary to ensure you stay warm and dry. In these scenarios, many hikers opt to wear a rain jacket underneath the Poncho for extra warmth and protection on their arms, and use a bungee tie or belt to secure the Poncho Tarp and reduce flapping.

Yes, our Ultralight Poncho Tarp is made from ripstop nylon with a silicone/PU coating that has a 2000mm hydrostatic head rating and all seams are sealed with heat tape.
When worn as a rain Poncho, it provides a lightweight, waterproof shell layer. However, if it’s windy, some water may sneak in along the snap closure sides and at the sleeves. This is why we recommend using a jacket or waterproof sleeve covers underneath your Poncho Tarp as an extra level of protection in cold or stormy conditions.
