Brilliant bit of kit. And a conversation starter! Set it up in one of our go-to camping spots in County Wicklow, on a fairly good day with just a smidge of drizzle during the night. Needless to say, it wasn't altogether a daunting challenge to the swag, weather-wise.
But here's the thing: the top-loader design, whilst a fab feature for getting up-close and personal, with a starry night sky, may prove a bit of a dampener when exiting during a drizzly night, to attend a call of nature. It remains to be seen, or felt, as to how much of an inconvenience it would be for me.
I'm getting on in years - 75 and counting - so, the bivvy does require a level of flexibility to hop in and out of. Early days to get hung up on this, which I'm sure to adapt to its snug but roomy enough, form factor, in time.
Oh, and a loop just above the head curved pole to hang a little light, would be nice 🙂
Needed shelter on a long day walk so the Alton tarp and ultra light ground sheet was the perfect combo to enjoy a coffee and a brief rest before settling off for the afternoon. The single ground sheet was so light and quick to set up.
Did the job, let me sleep on the cave floor while keeping my mat clean and dry. It's quiet, doesn't have the tyvek "chip packet" sound. I didn't use the included pegs. They look and feel very similar to the sea to summit aluminium "Y" pegs, though they look like they would blend in with the dirt.
I used this groundsheet camping out on the weekend. I have used other ground sheets before but they were like shower curtains compared to this one. Great stuff, and really good quality!
This thing is unbelievable! Doesn't pack much bigger or heavier than my aeropress. It's tough and the non slip surface works a treat. Best bang for buck out there.
First time overnight hiking with rain forecast and sharing my 2person hiking tent with a friend. I bought the groundsheet for us to sit on under a tarp if it was raining, and for the bags to sit on overnight as they don’t fit in the tent with two people inside. Ended up staking the ground sheet under and over both bags and they stayed completely dry. Great product - absolutely tiny when rolled up, really sturdy pegs (the sturdiest I have!) and fantastic shipping times. Thanks!
Very happy. Noticed the quality of my ground sheet straight away. Strong, light and big enough for me. Would certainly recommend this ground sheet to anyone who either camps or does day walks.
Good size to protect sleep mat and extra ground cover for tent or swag. Packs away to a good size. Also good to take to the beach and not have sand get stuck in it like a towel.
This groundsheet is ultralightweight, ultra compact, and the pegs are ultrastrong. This was a gift for my son. No National Parks open at the moment, so he's been testing it in the backyard. Can't wait to get bush with it. Looking forward to checking out more Alton products.
I have yet to use the groundsheet but now that the Qld lockdown has ended (for now) I will take the opportunity to get out and test it. I can see so many uses for this and it will be a regular item in my pack. Its lite weight, fit for purpose and again so well packaged.
Perfect just what I was looking for! Affordable price, high quality, lightweight groundsheet. Will serve as a good ground sheet for my Bivy on lightweight hikes and as a door mat on long camping trips. The packable size is unreal and the kit includes the usually high quality lightweight pegs. This is exactly what I was looking for in a groundsheet. Something simple, lightweight, durable and in a great colour. I'm tall but this fits me perfectly, and it's super easy to pack away. Literally rolls up and fits nicely in my hand. Really happy!
It is definitely lightweight. Personally I think I would need a slightly thicker and coated version to stop stick punctures etc. a mid weight would be good and slightly larger.
Great lightweight sheet - one awesome addition would be 2x middle tie out points (one each side) halfway down the long sides.
Would allow to be folded in half and pegged out for a lightweight picnic blanket ect - perfect for in the hills and at the park!
Ideal for tarp camping, and as footprint for tents. Love the way that it can be staked down at the corners, is very quiet in use, and is waterproof. Most of all, it seems to be very durable and protects your tent bottom.
A bit slippery ,however that will reduce with time.

Yet to use this product holidays in a few months time but on inspection as usual this is a rough but light extremely well made product. I expect nothing less from these guys and have many of their products all with the same quality and reviews. Highly recommend their products and will be purchasing more items as soon as I can
