This is our second generation of the Ultralight Camp Chair. The main change is that we’ve now shifted to a ripstop nylon reinforced with UHMWPE, the world’s strongest fibre.
We’ve made some minor changes to the design of the seat, so there are now two open cut-outs instead of the mesh, but apart from that the design is very similar to the previous generation. We’ve kept the pocket, giving you a practical place to store your phone or other small items within easy reach.
The frame structure itself is unchanged, so the new Ultralight Camp Chair has the exact same dimensions as the previous generation. This means it is still compatible with all our chair accessories.

UHMWPE stands for Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. Quite a mouthful. It’s one of several super-strong, ultralight fibres that are known for their incredible tensile strength, low stretch, and resistance to water and UV damage.
Dyneema® is the brand name for a specific type of UHMWPE fibre, first developed in the late 1960s. Other brands have gone on to produce fabrics using UHMWPE fibres, but Dyneema® remains the most well known.
Our Ultralight Camp Chair utilises ripstop nylon that’s reinforced with UHMWPE in a square grid, resulting in an ultralight fabric that’s exceptionally strong, durable, and long-lasting, while still being extremely lightweight.

In a nutshell, a camping chair provides a supportive, comfortable place to socialise, eat meals, and relax after a long day. That might sound like an unnecessary luxury, but the added comfort of a camping chair can make your outdoor experiences more enjoyable. That’s a huge plus.
Plus, for people who struggle with sore knees or back pain when hiking, a camping chair can be a game changer. And even if you don’t struggle with joint pain, sitting in a lightweight camp chair may contribute to your recovery after a big hike as it takes the pressure off your legs and back. And better recovery equals better performance the next day.
That’s why in most outdoor scenarios, including some overnight hikes, car camping, beach trips, and even festivals or sporting events, a camping chair is 100% worth it.

What a fantastic bit of kit. So small and light, can even fit in my motorbike tailbag. Perfect for camping as well as side of the road pit stops. It’s that easy to put together and pack away and unlike so many other ‘ultralight’ chairs it caters for the not so ultralight user. This is one of my favourite bits of kit.

I am currently volunteering in Namibia and the guides and staff are quite impressed by the chair. As we are limited by space and weight we don't carry chairs but this worked perfectly and is extremely comfortable.
I just can't say how much this chair and groundsheet improve the situation, I don't have the words. Salubrious is close. Insanely comfortable, lightweight, and with that groundsheet, far out, no getting bogged or bending legs. Top notch

I can't believe Alton has produced these chairs!!! I never thought I would need this in my camping/hiking set but my new motto seems to be "if it's Alton, I need it" They are everything they promise to be: light weight, easy to out up and pack away and so very comfortable. I love that there's a small pocket on the side for sunglasses, wallet, keys, phone etc. It's a great, well thought, brilliantly made product. Couldn't rave about it more! Testing this out before I take it up in the hills in my bike. I’m a chair breaker (ALDI special beware) and this one is living up to the test. Great bit of kit and I’m recommending it to my mates. It’s a keeper.
Ok at the risk of sounding like an idiot - I can't put the chair together! I decided to give it a test run at a family picnic recently and after struggling for 20mins I gave up and sat on a spare camp chair, feeling more than a little embarrassed. Presumably the concept is simple; the fabric must be secured at the 4 corners using the pole supports and then it tensions into a chair when all the supports click into place, but I simply could not get the poles to click into place under the fabric tension nor could I stretch the fabric over the supports if they were already clicked into place. A simple instruction sheet included in the package would be of great assistance to the assembly-challenged amongst us. For the moment, the chair is sitting unused as I contemplate my next steps. However, like all Alton goods, it appears to be of superb quality and very well made with strong stitching and materials.
First time I’ve taken a chair on a hike and it’s a pleasure to not sit on the ground. The chair is light and very easy to assemble and put together. I’m near 100kg and easily took my weight. I use the ground mat to wrap around the legs and the canvas then slide it into the cover.
Went car camping straight away to test out the chair, as soon as I received it. Perfect size and weight. The Alton tarp is awesome too. High, high quality. Should last for ages.
This camp chair is awesome! Packs down super small and fits in your pack nicely. Very easy to set up as everything is attached and snaps into place.
Took my new hammock out for a quick overnight trip to the lower portals and loved it. Never slept in a hammock before but this one was light, easy to set up and made for a comfy night's sleep. Looks cool too! Another quality piece of gear from Alton, glad I added it to the collection.
Very tidy little bit of gear. I got it for kayak trips and it fits the bill perfectly. Not too small to be uncomfortable but small enough to take on most outings. Set up and Pack up is a breeze. Slightly bigger and bulkier when packed than I was picturing, but won’t be an issue.
The lightweight chair is a great option for comfort. I usually use a three legged stool, which is no comparison to the soft and springy Alton chair. It could even inspire outings, just for the sake of using it!
