Our Telescopic Carbon Tarp Pole gives you complete control to choose where and how you build your shelter – without worrying about whether or not you’ll have access to trees or other supports for your shelter.
Use one, two, or more Tarp Poles to create your own fully-customised shelter configurations. Camping with a group of mates? Use two to four Tarp Poles with our 3m x 4m Ultralight Tarp to build a spacious communal shelter. Solo adventure? With just one Tarp Pole you’ll be equipped to build a secure, taut shelter in any environment.
The days (and nights) of sagging, collapsing tarp shelters are over. With our Telescopic Carbon Tarp Pole, it’s easy to fine-tune your setup to achieve the perfect level of tension and tautness, improving the overall structural integrity of your shelter. And with the ability to raise your tarp up, you can gain extra headroom and increase the usable space within your shelter.
Our Telescopic Carbon Tarp Pole is designed to be universally compatible with all camping tarps, not just ours. The top end of the pole has a 5cm removable spigot that fits into any grommets or eyelets on the tarp, while the base has a rubberised foot for enhanced grip and stability. For shelter setups where the support is used against the material of the tarp, such as a Tarp Tent configuration, the spigot should always be removed.

Poles are made of good materials, and are a good size when packed / weight is also good, but the telecopeing joints, while a good idea, get jammed and are a pain to use. One extra extension (so the poles are taller) would be a good improvement for version 2.
Just got back from a camping trip and struggled to find a flat camping area without trees so I have purchased two of these poles. Lightweight great storage easy set up without trees.
These poles are SOOOOO light, strong and compact. Think i'll get myself another couple for the tarp. Well worth the money 👍
really sturdy and featherweight. packs to good length and storage bag fits nice. love the raw carbon finish and the screw in tip to attach guylines/tarps. definitely recommend.

Extremely lightweight and compact. The only way this could be better is if it was also available in a longer version.
Sturdy and light......also doubles as a proxy walking stick....that says something for it!
Light but beefy. The first night campign with this we got hit with thunderstorms and 40mm of rain and it stayed solid despite a flapping tarp. The locks work really well and the segments are long enough to give good extension but short enough that the stiffness is excellent.
Seems like amazing quality (havent had a chance to use it yet though). And its super light and sturdy. Nice kit. I wish it was a little taller though maybe 10cm... even if it has to be thicker at the base (wont add much weight). Just to cope with taller people and fullest range of uses. Its not cheap ($) but I bought it to have it for a long time.
Great product and packs up smaller than bivvy poles which I particularly like.
All good and the design and especially on length perfect for adventure motorcycle touring.

These things are well made and super light which on the bike is very important.
I received the Tarp Poles last week and upon inspection I could see that they are excellent quality. They're lightweight, strong when extended and the perfect length folded. They come with a high quality case as well. All at a reasonable price. My only suggestion would be to offer a "twin pack" case so you can store 2 poles in one case [with a divider to stop damage]. Not a dealbreaker by any stretch. Fantastic work Alton!

Well made they are best tarp poles ive seen that go into back pack easy ,with alton 3×3 tarp which makes all other tarps look so un finished . ALTON ALL THE WAY 👍

These telescopic poles are a great idea and the final piece of the puzzle for me. I mean, it's good in theory to use sticks but sometimes they are just not available. I do a fair bit of bike packing and the lightweight, portable design of the poles make it fairly easy to transport them on a bike. Good overall design and they seems strong and well made. I haven't "used them in anger" yet but am looking forward to my first trip.
A compact, lightweight telescopic pole that can be set to your desired height and is very sturdy. I have purchased 2 that are to be used with my alton tarp.
