Leaders in Hammock Camping Australia Since 2015
When Alton launched in 2015, our first product was a camping hammock. Over the years, we’ve refined our original design through thousands of hours in the field and feedback from our community to create the best-selling Ultralight Hammock you see today, trusted by thousands of adventures across Australia and beyond. This isn’t just another lightweight hammock – it’s a legacy.

The Perfect Hammock Camping Starter Pack
This Ultralight Hammock comes with all the basics that you need to get started with hammock camping: tree-friendly hammock straps and connector loops, 12kN precipitation-hardened aluminium carabiners, and a doubled ended stuff sack for easy set up and pack down. Check out our other hammock camping essentials and customise your kit today.

Optional Tree-Friendly Hammock Straps
Our Hammock Straps are tree-friendly – and user-friendly. Made with 2.5cm wide webbing, they adhere to Leave No Trace guidelines for hammock camping. For maximum security, we’ve utilised UHMWPE, an ultra-strong material that is resistant to damage from UV, impact and abrasion. And with a simple, intuitive design that features 25 continuous loops, setting up your hammock has never been easier.

Made With The Alton Attention To Detail
From the first prototype to the final stitch, we’ve obsessed over the little details of our Ultralight Hammock so that you don’t have to. High tenacity ripstop nylon, quad-stitched suspension channels, precision construction techniques… you probably won’t notice these things out in the wild, but you will notice how good it feels to have a camping hammock that you can rely on 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Ultralight Hammock is intended for use as a single-person hammock. It measures 280 cm long and is 146 cm wide at the widest point and has a maximum weight capacity of 300kg.
That said, it can definitely accommodate two people sitting or lounging in the hammock, provided that their combined weight doesn’t exceed 300kgs.

For hammock camping, we generally recommend using a hammock that is around 60-90 cm longer than you are tall. Our Ultralight Hammock is 280cm long, so it can comfortably accommodate people up to about 200cm tall.
However, comfort is subjective, so the best hammock length for you will depend on your specific setup and individual preferences. For more information on hammock camping, check out this comprehensive guide.

Yes, you can sleep in a camping hammock on your side, although it might take a bit of trial and error to find the most comfortable position for you.
Our advice to anyone who is new to hammock camping is to start by setting up your hammock somewhere where you can adjust all the variables and experiment with different configurations. Check out more hammock comfort tips here.

Without proper insulation, the cold can be more noticeable in a hammock. This is because there is more airflow around your body, which draws the heat away and leaves you feeling chilly.
To stay warm and cosy in your hammock, we recommend using a top quilt over you and a hammock underquilt suspended below it, as well as a camping tarp to help block the wind. To learn more about winter hammock camping, click here.
