Game-Changing Fit & Feel
Don’t let an annoying, bouncy pack hold you back – or hurt your back. Featuring an adjustable chest strap and detachable hip belt, the vest harness contours to the shape of your body for a highly secure yet comfortable fit. This game-changing design eliminates pack bounce and sway, reduces strain on the shoulders, neck and back, and prevents chafing and uncomfortable sore spots so you can focus on moving forward, not on managing your pack.
Go Further, Faster & Harder
Whether you’re out for a day hike or travelling the world, our Ultralight Daypack is up for anything. To ensure it delivers lasting performance at the lowest possible weight, we've carefully selected high-quality materials and components. With Duraflex® components, YKK® zip, a breathable X-Mesh™ harness, and a water-repellent ripstop nylon main compartment, you can count on this Ultralight Daypack to go the distance.
Ultra-Stretch Outer Pockets
Our Daypack features three ultra-stretch outer pockets that add up to 5L of extra storage in addition to the 20L main compartment. The large mesh outer pocket is ideal for storing bulky items you may need to access on the trail, while the deep side pockets can easily each hold a 1-1.5L drink bottle. The vest harness has a built-in phone pocket and a secure zip-up pocket for snacks and other small essentials.
Uncompromising Quality
We've spent months designing, testing and refining our 20L Ultralight Daypack to achieve the perfect balance of functionality, durability and performance. And we’re pretty stoked with the result. It might look simple, but every detail has been strategically thought out for maximum effect, giving you an Ultralight Daypack for hiking that performs exceptionally well across a wide variety of conditions and outdoor activities.

Congratulations Alton ……. You have been able to achieve something I have tried to do for years . Finally my wife said she liked something I bought ……. lol .
We just got back from 2 weeks walking in the Dolomites. During that time my wife carried the day pack while I lugged around her camera gear .
She actually complimented that it was comfortable easy to access and held all the gear we needed for day walks . She liked the shoulder harness and the pockets carried her phone and some munchies .
Great stuff love your gear keep up the great work
Great pack, as it’s so lightweight, but sturdy & waterproof. The shoulder straps would slip which was annoying. A reef knot or 2 put an end to that. It is a design issue I think.
Absolutely love this pack. You can tell every part of it had a lot of thought put into it. So light, the clever looped adjustment straps make it easy to adjust on the move, and I love the really functional pockets. Impressed with how it felt on trail, and how easy it was to access water, snacks, rain gear, sit pad, phone, keys, headphones really easy. I've taken this pack everywhere since I got it.
Took the alton pack, hammock and chair on a 4 day kayak trip. Despite sitting in 20mm of water for a day and a half nothing in the pack got wet which is more than I can say for some other dry bags I had. The chair and hammock were great too.
I was so excited to have my bag , took it for half day hike and filled my bag with some gears as my training weight to get ready and get used to for my overnight hike soon.
I just love the design and how its so light.
Great pack, definitely water resistant, mine got half way submerged (wading through water up to my chest) and everything inside pretty much stayed dry. Only a very little bit of water got inside the pack. Very comfortable and lots of space. Highly recommend.
While I have been waiting for them to release a backpack for a long time, I was a bit let down by the quality. It arrived with a hole in the shoulder pocket due to the thread coming loose.
Initially, I hoped to overlook this issue, but I believe that I should receive an item that is free from defects, and it’s only fair to work with Alton to resolve this problem. Unfortunately, I found the response from customer support a bit disappointing.
They requested that I cut the faulty item in half and send a photo, citing concerns about increased fraud. While I appreciated that they acknowledged this request was excessive, I expected a more collaborative approach to resolving the issue.
A more reasonable solution would be to send an Australia Post return satchel and issue a replacement only after receiving the faulty item or to refund the cost of a return satchel that I can purchase to return the defective item.
Given my purchase history and past positive reviews, I am not prone to making fraudulent claims. My feedback to Alton would be to reconsider their policies to better align with a more eco-friendly approach to waste reduction.
When I first saw the design, I loved it and couldn't wait to get my hands on them, when I saw that it was a free gift with purchase. I jumped on the offer straight away! It's been such a great bag and it can literally hold the entire gear for my overnight hikes as well as a perfect day pack!
great daypack size. been using for training walks as i'm just getting into hiking. its pretty comfy but i have added ventilated pad for longer walks. materials are nice. really like the vest style shoulder straps. adjustment straps work great. very happy with it. also love that alton goods are all OD and black in colour
Took this out on a day hike for the first time today. It has all the features I want in a daypack and nothing more! Looking forward to using it on more adventures in the future!
Bought it on sale for about $100, which seems pretty reasonable. I was concerned by some of the other reviews citing construction quality, and rightly so. Straight out of the box there were some loose threads and inconsistencies in the stitching that do not inspire confidence.
Still keeps water out, though, and the side pockets fit my 1L Nalgene perfectly. Advertised as 20L but can hold an extra 5L in the pockets, and very comfortable even with a decent load.
Great bag design, but poor build quality. Like many of the reviews here, my bag started tearing at the pocket seams after very little use. Really disappointing from a quality and sustainability perspective. The design itself is bang-on and the bag is a joy to use, however, it's ultimately let down by the quality of manufacturing and materials
A fantastic product with consideration on integrating features such as pouches and zip pockets on the shoulder straps, hip and sternum straps.
Waterproofing definitely held up :)
Great size and love all the pockets. Haven't been able to use it for hiking though as the straps are too long even when tightened all the way. I have a slim build but I'm hardly petite. Luckily the fabric looks sewable so will try to take in by 5cm.
What an incredible free gift, it’s a great backpack super lightweight and comfortable. I only wish there was even one internal pocket it would help a lot for organisation. But the 2 zipped pockets on the straps are wonderful, so good being able to access them when it’s on.
The backpack feels very roomy too in the main compartment!
Glad this was a free gift. I really like the design of the pack but the straps are very poor quality. Just took it out for the first time and the stitching has come apart in multiple places, whenever I would pick the pack up I could hear the stitching rip or at times my watch would get caught and the mesh would just tear. The rest of the pack seems great but the straps, very poor quality.
Just thought it was a really modern design that eliminates the over engineering and weight penalties of the past. I think a 30L version could be a good option.
These are so light weight. Not only will I use it hiking, it's also going to be my daypack when travelling overseas. It takes up hardly any space in a suitcase. Perfect all rounder.
Took me a while to figure out how to roll the top up without it coming apart but eventually I figured it out. Love the weight and feel and the ample side pockets. Was doubting my phone would fit in the strap pouch but it did. Very happy
