-
Nanopore™ uses a patented polypropylene (PP) membrane that’s naturally hydrophobic, providing lasting waterproof performance without toxic chemical coatings or fluorocarbons (PFCs).
Unlike traditional TPU or PU membranes which often rely on chemical solvents, heat, and complex production processes, this technology avoids harmful emissions and waste. It’s better for the planet, for people who make it, and you, the user.
As the industry pushes toward cleaner, lower-impact materials, many leading outdoor brands are now exploring similar PP-based alternatives, so this technology is becoming more widespread in the industry.
-
Nanopore™ uses a C0 waterproof coating that provides lasting water-beading performance without utilising any harmful fluorocarbons commonly found in DWR coatings.
Traditional DWR coatings, often labeled C8 or C6, are made with PFAS that don’t break down in the environment – thus the nickname ‘forever chemicals’. These forever chemicals cause water to roll off the surface of the fabric, but they have been linked to long-term ecological and health concerns.
Our C0 technology is PFAS-free, made with non-toxic, biodegradable components that deliver the same protective water-repellent effect, without the negative long-term effects.
-
Like all outdoor gear, Nanopore™ items benefit from being cleaned every now and then.
We recommend hand washing your item with a suitable water-based technical outdoor wash, such as Nikwax Tech Wash®, using lukewarm water. The C0 waterproof coating can be replenished using a Nikwax TX.Direct® Spray-On or similar spray on waterproofing treatments.
Allow to air dry in a warm, well-ventilated location away from direct sunlight.

The durability of any waterproof fabric is largely determined by the outer face fabric, not the inner membrane itself.
For our All-Weather Jackets, we’ve utilised a 20D ripstop nylon outer face fabric along with the Nanopore™ inner membrane and tricot backer. This provides adequate durability for variable outdoor terrain while still being lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
A jacket with a thicker outer face fabric (<40D) may be more durable, but will also be noticeably heavier and stiffer. For hunting, field research, or tactical activities in harsh terrain that extra durability may be necessary, but most outdoor scenarios won’t require that level of durability.
