When Christie joined Alton back in June 2023, she was Alton’s first full-time employee.
Just months after starting, Christie helped pack up and move the whole operation from old warehouse in Geebung to Brendale, QLD – which is no small task!
Since then, she’s built the marketing engine behind a lot of what you see from us online. When she started, our digital presence was pretty much a website and good intentions. These days, thanks in no small part to her, a lot more people know who we are.
We sat down with Christie to hear about that journey: how she landed here, what's kept her around through the big moves, and the outdoor adventures that she loves the most.

When did you start working with Alton?
I haven’t always worked in marketing - I actually started out as a childcare teacher. After a few years living abroad (and doing some serious soul searching), I realised teaching wasn’t the right fit for me, and that I was far more drawn to photography and blogging. That eventually led me into social media marketing.
My first role in the industry was with another camping brand. I wasn’t a camper growing up, but through trips and adventures with that team, I quickly developed a genuine love for the outdoors. I later moved into an agency role, but being deskbound all day didn’t suit me. I missed being outside and closer to the product!
When the role at Alton came up it felt like the perfect fit - and I’ve been a part of the Alton family since 2023!
What does a typical day look like for you?
Most days are a mix of campaign planning and proofing, photoshoot prep, EDMs, social media management (both paid and organic), editing video for reels or other video content, and website updates. It keeps things interesting. That variety is a big part of what I love about the role.
What do you enjoy most about working at Alton?
Honestly, there’s so much to love - the people, the culture, the adventures, but I really enjoy the creative freedom. We’re encouraged to bring forward new ideas, which is not something you find everywhere.
I’ve grown a lot in my role since joining Alton. I’ve been able to take on more responsibility, get involved in bigger projects, and learn as the brand has continued to evolve. It’s been really cool to see how much Alton has grown over the years - from the products we’re developing, to the community we’re building, and the adventures we get to be part of. It’s been exciting to be along for the ride!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love going on day trips, exploring new places, and getting away for a weekend adventure whenever I can. I still love taking pics and creating content, which has always been a big part of my life.
I actually don’t camp all that often outside of work, but I definitely get my fix through Alton! I do enjoy a good sunrise hike though, and I’m always chasing an epic view, a good coffee, or somewhere I haven’t been before.
Tell us about a memorable outdoor experience.
In 2022 I went on a week-long yoga, hiking and camping adventure at Uluru, and it completely changed how I see the outdoors. I'd never really been a big outdoors person before that trip (I know, a bit ironic given where I ended up!) but that adventure made me fall in love with our backyard and gave me a new appreciation for what my body can do. One year later I started working at Alton.
What motivates you to keep going on a tough hike?
That feeling you get after getting through something hard… There's something really powerful about proving to yourself that you can push past the point where you wanted to quit.

A little luxurious, but wet wipes are a game-changer. After a full day of adventuring in all kinds of conditions, being able to clean your hands feels amazing.
