Alton’s Lightweight Camp Table is designed to be a reliable, convenient addition to your outdoor kit. It’s easy to pack, quick to set up, and surprisingly stable, even on uneven ground.
But camping isn’t known for being the cleanest of activities out there… So after a few trips, it’s normal for your Lightweight Camp Table to be sporting a few grease spots, dirty marks or coffee stains.
Alton’s Lightweight Camp Table features a collapsible tabletop made from ripstop nylon that is PFAS-free, meaning that the fabric has not been treated with any harmful per- and polyfluoroalkyl ‘forever chemicals’.
This makes it a safer, more environmentally friendly choice for food prep and daily use, but it may be slightly more susceptible to staining or dirty marks compared to treated fabrics… but that’s a trade-off we’re personally happy to live with!
Fortunately, cleaning your Lightweight Camp Table is quick and easy – if you know how. So in this guide, we’ll give you the step-by-step instructions for cleaning and caring for your Lightweight Camp Table.
How to clean the Lightweight Camp Table
What you’ll need:
- Mild soap or delicate laundry detergent
- Soft cloth or sponge
- Small soft-bristled brush (optional)
- Dry towel
Cleaning Instructions:
1. Shake (or scrape) off loose debris.
Start by setting up the table and giving it a good shake. Remove crumbs, dirt, leaves, and any loose debris. If needed, use a cloth or scrubbing brush to gently dislodge any stubborn food or dirt on the table surface.
2. Prepare a gentle cleaning solution.
Dilute a small amount of mild soap or delicate laundry detergents in warm water. Avoid using anything with harsh detergents, bleach, fabric softeners, or heavy degreasers as these can damage the fabric.
3. Wipe down the tabletop.
Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the soapy water and gently wipe the nylon tabletop. Focus on stained or sticky areas. If there are persistent grubby spots, leave the tabletop to soak in a bucket of warm water for 10-20 minutes, then repeat this step.
4. Clean the frame and joins.
Use a soft cloth to wipe down metal or plastic parts, removing dirt or grime that could affect the joins. For tight spots, a small brush or toothbrush works well.
5. Rinse off the soap residue.
Rinse off the table until the water runs clear.
6. Dry everything thoroughly.
Wipe the table down with a dry towel to get most of the water off, then leave it in a well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Allow the table to air dry completely before packing it away.
7. Store Properly
Once dry, fold the table up and store it in its carry bag. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture buildup and prolong its lifespan.
All done!
With just a little regular maintenance, your Lightweight Camp Table will be clean and hygienic again, all ready for your next adventure.
