  • A recent batch was made with uneven down fill, meaning the insulation isn’t spread evenly in some sections. The total fill weight is correct, but a few areas may feel less warm due to this uneven distribution.

  • Yes. The down fill can be manually redistributed by gently massaging and shaking the vest to move the insulation between baffles. In our testing, this process took about 20-40 minutes and made the issue much less noticeable during wear. 

  • After repair, the Factory Second Tough Down Vests are warm and functional for everyday use in cool to cold conditions. Individual results may vary, so we still advise using caution if intending to use your Factory Second item in extreme conditions.

  • We’ve chosen not to donate these vests because they don’t meet our normal performance and quality standards. Donating faulty products could lead to discomfort or disappointment for the recipient. By selling them ourselves, we’re able to ensure that there is full transparency around them being a factory second so that buyers can make an informed choice before purchasing.

  • Online orders won’t be sorted prior to dispatch, but if you drop by our Brendale store, you are welcome to select your own Vest. 

  • Factory Second Tough Down Vests are sold as is, and all sales are final. This means that they’re not eligible for warranty claims, returns, or exchanges.

Because of this, we’re offering this item a second chance and making it available below cost price, charging just enough to cover our warehouse and handling costs.

How to Repair Your Tough Down Vest

This Factory Second Tough Down Vest can be repaired by hand. Start by lying the item out and identify the baffles that are over-filled and under-filled. Then, gently begin to manipulate or massage the over-filled baffles, working slowly and gently. Gradually push the down towards the places that need additional fill until all baffles have fairly even coverage. With about 20-40 minutes of effort, you can significantly improve the down coverage. Individual results may vary.
